I would like to visit Japan but I heard it's quite expensive, have to save up some money.

I had a wonderful trip where I spent 4 days just walking (and riding the trains) around Tokyo. It's a really wonderful and manageable city for a solo traveler or couple. Course, I hadn't read your article so when I rushed into Shibuya 109 to use the bathrooms - immaculate - I had no clue I was in Japan's premiere shopping destination.
I loved Tokyo though the trains were a little confusing. So many different lines and the big station map is no help - It's all in Japanese! There were always very friendly staff to help though, so that made it a-ok!
Don't forget all of Tokyo's huge and beautiful public parks. On Sunday one can find a million things going on in Yoyogi park. When I was there I saw break-dancers dressed like 50s greasers next to a drum circle while a little further on students were making a movie. Wonderful experience.
