Cyprus, officially known as the Republic of Cyprus is located on the land mass pertaining to Europe and as well as Asian continents. The name had been brought to the place by 40 monks from Asia in the 11 century. Agros gets its name from the place which the monks have left, Megas Agros. You can find the monastery which had transformed into Virgin Mary’s church today. The monastery was destroyed in 19th century before shifting the valuables and icons to safe places.
One of the most important places you would never miss to visit in Cyprus is Nicosia. Also called as Lefkosia by locals, this city is the capital and one of the largest cities of Cyprus. Nicosia is neatly tucked in the midst of the island and on the River Pedieos. It holds the government building which are the nervous system of Cyprus. The city is divided into two parts namely Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot which are located in the southern and northern parts respectively. Nicosia is the only capital in the world which has the last divided capital with a symbolic wall built in between the city.

Paphos is the capital of Paphos District and is a coastal city located in the southwest of Cyprus. The city too is divided into two locations namely Old Paphos and New Paphos. New Paphos is the one which is inhabited currently.
